Environmental Stewardship
Sustainability is a core belief for us, closely linked to the lifespan of our products. That’s why we use high-end materials and adhere to strict quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
Grüezi bag® is a carbon-neutral company, and ethical and environmentally friendly production is firmly rooted in our philosophy.
The down used in our products is RDS-certified
The wool comes from ethically raised sheep on alpine pastures, without any mulesing
Downwool® production takes place in Regensburg, Germany, using a purely mechanical process without the use of chemicals or pollutants.
Our materials are all OEKO-TEX® 100 certified ensuring they are free of harmful substances
Grüezi Bag fabrics are passed through hot rollers, reducing the pore size. This maintains breathability and makes it downproof, reducing the need for additional coatings
Impregnation is done with bio-based raw materials (BeSoDRY-ECO), without the use of PFC-containing impregnations
We use non-toxic dyes that meet cradle-to-cradle requirements and the bluesign® standard
Our down is RDS certified
The down used to fill our sleeping bags and jackets comes from ducks and geese. These animals are subject to the strict protection of the RDS seal throughout the entire value chain. This protection begins immediately after hatching on the farms, throughout the entire life of a bird, through slaughter, to the down producers and our sewing factories. This guarantees an ethically impeccable origin.
The Responsible Down Standard is an independent, voluntary global standard that allows companies to certify their products to the RDS, even when this is not required by law. The RDS was developed and revised over three years with input from animal welfare groups, industry experts, brands and retailers. The standard recognizes and rewards best practices in animal welfare.
Through the RDS certification, Grüezi bag ensures that our products are manufactured without the use of cruel methods such as live plucking and force-feeding.
Our materials are OEKO-TEX® 100 certified
At Grüezi bag® It is important to us that everything on the sleeping bag, from the thread to the zipper, prints, ribbons, etc., is tested for harmful substances. The OEKOTEX label allows us to show how good our products are.
OEKO-TEX® enables consumers and companies to make responsible choices that preserve our planet for future generations.
Each individual item is tested in a laboratory to determine whether it is skin-friendly or contains other harmful chemicals.
The testing and certification processes behind the OEKO-TEX® standard guarantee the highest level of consumer safety.
PFC-Free Impregnation
Grüezi bag® products are produced without chemical impregnation. Instead, we work with the material to find more natural alternatives that maintain their durability and breathability.
To achieve this we:
Pull the nylon over hot rollers to narrow the pores. This maintains breathability and makes it downproof, reducing the need for additional coatings
Use non-toxic BEMACRON dyes from the Swiss CHT Group that meet cradle-to-cradle requirements and the bluesign® standard. This also ensures the pores of the outer material are maintained during the dyeing process.
Where impregnation is requires, we use a durable water-repellent impregnation based on bio-based raw materials (BeSoDRY-ECO). The synthetic sleeping bags have the environmentally friendly German impregnation BIONIC-FINISH ® ECO with RUCO®-DRY ECO PLUS (without perfluorinated compounds and thus avoids the release of PFOS and PFOA)
